Alice Finch is truly a LEGO superstar! Based in Seattle and mother of two, she creates impressive – in both details and size – LEGO replicas of fictional places.
The most famous project is also her first – the much beloved Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, an unbelievable detailed replica made of around 400,000 LEGO pieces.
The LEGO Hogwarts, which is probably the biggest LEGO structure built by a single person, was pretty time consuming for Alice, who spent 12 months building it, over a 18-month period, and that doesn’t even include time spent on research – for instance, she took a Harry Potter studio tour in London to see the sets in person, which she says helped fill in the gaps.
But Alice didn’t stop there. After building the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and being featured on pretty much everywhere both online and offline, she decided to continue with other amazing works. She created an insane 10-foot-by-5-foot, 200,000-piece replica of Rivendell, the fictional Middle-earth outpost from J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. She didn’t do it alone this time, but with the help of David Frank, a fellow LEGO architect.
Other LEGO buildings by Alice Finch include The Isle of Berk, Notre Dame Cathedral and Hobbiton. You can find all her LEGO work @ Flickr.
