Artist Updates Old Thrift Store Paintings With Pop Culture Elements

Posted on

When he’s not writing software at his job in New York, Dave Pollot likes to bring new life to old art, by making pop culture additions to abandoned thrift paintings.

Pollot had the idea of “updating” old thrift store paintings when he was dragged by a friend to a thrift store and joked about painting funny things into the pieces of art they would find. Later he began repurposing such art because it “brings interesting challenges with each new piece”.

The artist manages to perfectly match the style and color of the painting, making the additions, although unexpected, to appear as if they were there all along.

His additions are usually references or parodies of Pollot’s favorite movies and video games, like Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ghostbusters or Futurama, to name just a few.
