Flatland Photography Project Bends Istanbul Inception-Style

Posted on

“Flatland” is a project by Turkish photographer and digital artist Aydın Büyüktaş. The photos are taken with the help of drones and then re-assembled digitally to create a world reminiscent of the well known 2010 movie “Inception”.

The surreal landscapes depict various locations in Istanbul – from mosques, bazaars and waterways, to stadiums, parks, busy roads and bridges.

According to the artist, the project was inspired by “Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions”, a 1884 satirical novella by Edwin Abbott Abbott about a two-dimensional world occupied by geometric figures, where men are polygons and women are line-segments.

No matter the inspiration, the final result is simply amazing – take a look for yourself!
