Turkish Artist Creates Hypnotic Cloned Videos As Never-Ending GIFs

Posted on

Erdal İnci, a Turkish new media artist, painter, photographer and street artist, has become popular for his cloned motion videos, presented online as GIFs.

The Istanbul-based artist transforms simple, one to two-second snapshots into endless hypnotic loops that continue to fascinate the viewer, despite the repetition.

He first started experimenting with this technique in 2004 and describes it as a “human pattern akin to a photograph or a painting which is composed of moments. In this way, the viewer can watch all the time phases in a small amount of time – 1 or 2 seconds.”
